Shadow Work: Release Energetic Anchors and Unlock Your Creative Power
"Discover why consistent shadow work is the missing piece that prevents most people from shaping their reality. Learn practical techniques to release unconscious patterns, rise in consciousness, and reclaim your energy.",
If we do shadow work not only once but over time consistently, our ability to shape our reality goes up exponentially. This explains why you may have hit a block, a stop pattern, or a place where you're stuck—and why even as you're doing what seems like the right things, even as you're adding more to your repertoire and learning more, you remain in place or things still get a little bit worse.
For a lot of people, shadow work is the missing piece. Those who are not doing shadow work get stuck at a very finite level of growth and are unable to move up levels in the game, so to speak, or continually expand and create in the ways that they want.
What Is Shadow Work?
Your shadow represents the unconscious parts of yourself—the stuff in the unseen that's not very conscious to you. These are your beliefs, your patterns, stuck energy, your traumas, all of these things that don't usually come up obviously if you don't know where to look.
Once you learn to identify these patterns, they become much more obvious. You make the unconscious conscious. But for most people, they're walking around with a shadow filled with worldviews, patterns, belief systems, thoughts, feelings, and stuck energy that is sabotaging them.
Here's the critical insight: If you don't work on the shadow, you will create from the shadow.
You get what you think about most of the time. You get what you feel about. You are creating your life via the energetic signal that you are sending out. But if you're not doing shadow work and you have all of these negative patterns, traumas, and unconscious things operating in your life 24/7, then you are sending out a muddled signal to the universe.
You are sending out thoughts and feelings and energy that you may not even be aware of that are affecting your creation. Even if you're adding certain things that seem more positive, they are still being outweighed by what's within your shadow.
The 95/5 Split
Most people operate on a 95/5 split—95% unconscious, 5% conscious. You might think, "I'm being more positive. I'm always thinking about what I want." Maybe you're doing that in your more conscious moments. But how often are those conscious moments? Already 5% of your day for most people.
If that's the case, then you are going to receive that 95% because even though you may not be aware of it, that's what you're thinking and feeling most of the time.
The Energetic Anchor Analogy
Imagine you are suspended in water, and you can breathe underwater. Towards the surface of this body of water is high consciousness—a higher frequency, higher energy. Keep in mind that you naturally, left to your own devices without a shadow, are naturally a very high vibration. You come from source. You come from God. You are naturally high.
The reason you're not there all the time isn't because of anything other than you have layered on top certain things that are weighing you down.
High consciousness is towards the surface, low consciousness towards the depths. High consciousness is where all the things you want are—material possessions, fulfillment, joy, higher conscious emotions, and ways of living.
However, you're not able to experience this often because you have energetic anchors attached to you that are pulling you down towards the lower conscious parts of the water. These are emotional states like guilt, shame, apathy, anger, frustration, and pride pulling you down.
Your shadow has all of these anchors—stuck energy, beliefs—that pull you down because they're sending out that signal which gives you stuff at these lower levels.
What Happens When You Release Anchors
When you release these energetic anchors, you would naturally start to rise—without adding anything more, without saying a bunch of affirmations. You would start to naturally rise because you are more connected to those higher conscious emotions naturally.
Instead of trying to swim upstream with all these anchors, why not look down at the anchors and start to release them?
As you release these anchors, you naturally start to go up into higher levels of consciousness. With that released anchor leaves the thoughts, the patterns, the feelings that were more on the low conscious side. Your signal that you're sending out becomes a higher signal, a more coherent signal.
Energy Returns to You
When you're in lower levels of consciousness, people feel depressed, contracted, like they don't have energy. Yet nothing physically has happened to deplete their energy. The reason is because they're at a lower level of consciousness with less energy to work with.
As you rise up in consciousness, energy starts to flow faster, brighter, and more consistently, giving you more at your disposal. Blocked energy doesn't just disappear when released—you gain that energy back. You get an energetic boost.
Shadow work frees up energy. Those blockages in energy were preventing things from coming through. When released, the energy can form and move in different ways that bring about new results.
Signs You Have Anchors to Release
Self-Sabotage: You're making progress, doing well, and then something comes up that knocks you out. You start a workout habit, go for a month, then boom—you stop for no clear reason.
Lack of Motivation: You have something you're focusing on, you know it's the thing for you, but you feel a lack of motivation towards it. That's almost 100% some kind of anchor blocking you.
Broken Momentum: Your momentum seems to stop even when pursuing your dreams.
These patterns are always revealing themselves to you. Most people either think they're normal or just a part of life, so they ignore them. We want to stop ignoring them and release them to gain that energy back.
Practical Technique #1: The Letting Go Method
This technique comes from David Hawkins, author of "Letting Go"—the gold standard for this work.
Step 1: Locate and Identify
When a trigger activates, feel where it is in your body. Almost every time, you'll notice it's somewhere—stomach, chest, throat—or in multiple locations at once. What is the emotion? Focus on the emotion, not the story.
Step 2: Detach and Disidentify
You believe you ARE the emotion, but you're not. Say: "My name is [your name]. I am a divine infinite co-creative being that is experiencing the emotion known as [anger/fear/frustration]."
You may notice immediate release because you're no longer attaching yourself to these thoughts and emotions.
Step 3: Allow and Observe
Become the calm, grounded observer. Watch the emotion like a parent watching a child. Don't judge it. Don't create a story around it. Just observe.
The emotion will try to hook you. If it does, go back to Step 2. Stay with it no matter how much it kicks up a storm. It requires YOUR energy to keep going. If you don't give it energy by attaching, it starts to fade quickly.
You might notice it moves in your body—stomach to chest. Just follow it. You might notice anger turns to sadness. Just observe the new emotion. Allow any physical releases—tears, yawns, coughing, even laughter. These are signs of release.
Keep going until you can't feel it anymore. Ask yourself: On a scale of 1-10, how intense is the emotion? You want to get close to zero.
Practical Technique #2: Rubbing the Tender Spot (TFT)
This is from Thought Field Therapy (TFT), developed by Roger Callahan—more powerful and complete than EFT, with about 9+ out of 10 success rate compared to EFT's 4-5 out of 10.
When an emotion throws you into reversal (your energy system goes offline), do this:
Rub the center of your chest, around your heart chakra, in a circular motion.
Say: "Even though I am feeling [frustration/anger/sadness], it's okay. I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself."
Allow any releases—yawns, tears. If another emotion surfaces, repeat with the new emotion.
This gets your energy system back online and releases whatever emotion just came up.
Practical Technique #3: Tapping the Meridian Points
Tap these points 7-15 times each, from head to hands:
- Top of head
- Inside of eyebrows (both sides)
- Side of eyes by temples (both sides)
- Under eyes (both sides)
- Under nose
- Under mouth
- Collar bones (both sides)
- Under armpits by ribs (both sides)
- Side of hands
- Thumb, index, middle, pinky fingertips
- Back of hand at ring finger
Go through all points 2-3 times to get your energy system back online. You'll feel more energized as you stimulate these meridian points.
Practical Technique #4: Collarbone Breathing
This activates 50% of your energy system through the kidney points. If this is in reversal, half your energy system is offline.
1. Put your finger on your collarbone, go to the side, put fingers together pointing down. Where your pinky stops, there's a little divot—put your fingers there.
2. Tap the gamut point (back of hand between pinky and ring finger knuckles) while doing these breaths:
- Breathe all the way in
- Breathe halfway out, hold
- All the way out
- Halfway in
- All the way out
3. Put your knuckles in the same spot, repeat the breaths
4. Do the same on the other side of your collarbone
5. Repeat entire sequence with other hand
The Integration
When you do shadow work consistently over time, you:
1. Clear energetic anchors weighing you down
2. Naturally rise in consciousness without "adding" anything
3. Gain back blocked energy
4. Send out a clearer, more coherent signal
5. Create from power rather than from the shadow
6. Prevent new anchors from grabbing hold
Your shadow will always let you know when it's being activated—that's what being "triggered" means. Use these moments as opportunities rather than obstacles. Life is essentially telling you: "This is the thing you need to get through to move to where you want to be."
The life you want exists at higher levels of consciousness. The path there isn't about adding more techniques or affirmations—it's about releasing what's weighing you down. Do this work consistently, and your ability to shape your reality goes up exponentially.
